Sometime last week, just as I was about preparing for departure to China, I got an email...
"Lill, please help me check whether this voucher has expired..."
Geez man, the problem with issuing vouchers is that there are always always T&Cs to look at.. The problem with this voucher was that there was no expiry date and no issuance date.. The only clue I had was the logo on the voucher..
Thus, again I put on my archeologist's hat and went around asking all the old birds, when this logo was last used... and the answer is... 6 years ago!
Logic of course would dictate that a voucher issued at least 6 years ago can hardly be expected to be valid. Unfortunately, there are no T&Cs and no date of expiry... Technically that meant that the voucher could be valid indefinitely...
So, while emails went flying back and forth, and this customer trying to push his luck in getting a freebie, Little Lill went diving.. Into that dusty cabinet behind me..
I thank my acute intelligence to have changed the lock when I 1st came in which allowed me to open the cabinet whose key has been lost for eons.. I didn't really harbour much hope in finding anything, but I thought, heck, just try lor...
Ta-Dah! Managed to find the accompanying flyer that came with that expiry dateless voucher which clearly had the expiry date printed on each and every date.. and as expected.. the expiry date was 2001...
Yay! I am very proud of myself.. And so... moral of the story? Don't throw anyway anything!! You might need it again, even if its 10 years from now!
