Ok, if you ever wanted concrete proof that LVs ARE cheaper in France and UK, look no further. Here is a quick comparison between Singapore, UK and France.

UK = GBP 525 = SGD 1425 (difference = 10% before tax rebates for tourists)
UK = GBP 433 = SGD 1175 (difference = 26% after VAT rebate of 17.5% )
France = EUR 650 = SGD 1397 (difference = 12% before tax rebates for tourists)
France = EUR 567 = SGD 1218 (difference = 23% after VAT rebate of 12.75% )

LV Alma MM in Cuir Vernis
Singapore = SGD 3050
UK = GBP 1000 = SGD 2714 (difference = 11% before tax rebates for tourists)
France = EUR 1250 = SGD 2690 (difference = 12% before tax rebates for tourists)

*Disclaimer: I can't quite remember the taxes in UK anymore... but the last time i actually incurred shopping taxes, it was about 17..5% while when I was in France last year, taxes were like 12.75%. Prices and exchange rate as of today 26 June 2008 as per Yahoo! Finance exchange rates!
