Afternoon Tea - Halia, Raffles Hotel

Read the invited reviews of the newly opened Halia at Raffles Hotel and thought I'd give the afternoon tea a try.
Maybe I am still reeling from the fantastic avalanche of flavours from House Barracks Cafe yesterday but this afternoon tea at Halia is rather disappointing.

Despite having made a reservation,  the staff totally did not seem to be expecting my arrival and scrambled to locate my reservation to no avail.  Then despite seeing that I was carrying a baby, the staff offered me to be seated, perched on high chairs no less.

Then, the menu showing me what to expect at the afternoon tea was extremely tardy and took forever to come. And when I did make my afternoon set order, the waiter came back to tell me that some items would be replaced as they were not available.

When the items finally did arrive, the scone while warm was not buttery nor melt in your mouth. The strawberry tart looked like it was commercially purchased from Breadtalk, and if the sweets were too sweet, the savouries were too salty.

Available daily from 3 to 5 pm but when I was there, no one was having the afternoon set on a Friday afternoon.

Costing $35++ per pax, what you see in the pic is for one pax. I wouldn't pay more than $20++ for this.

Thumbs down.
